Our story

A barn, two kettles, and a stubborn streak

Ironwood started in 2009 as a leaky barn at the bottom of Cooper's Hollow, two second-hand kettles, and a recipe scrawled on the back of a feed-store receipt. Fifteen years later we've grown into a 20-barrel brewhouse — but the recipe's philosophy hasn't budged: source local, brew small, and never rush a fermentation.

We malt with grain from farms within an hour's drive, hop with whole cones picked up the valley, and pull our water from the same spring the hollow's named for. What comes out of the bright tank goes straight to the taps a few feet away — beer at its freshest, the way it's meant to be.

Pull up a stool

The taproom is the heart of it all — reclaimed timber, 24 taps, board games on the shelf, and a rotating food truck parked out front Thursday through Sunday. Dogs welcome, kids welcome, growlers filled to go.

The Coal Hollow Stout ruined every other stout for me. The taproom feels like your buddy's garage — if your buddy happened to be a genius brewer with 24 taps.

We booked the Saturday tour for a birthday and it was the highlight of the whole trip. Marco poured us a sample straight from the bright tank. You can't fake that kind of care.
